When you view the Weather Underground forecasts, they put little gif advertisements/etc on the screen. I noticed one this morning where they were comparing their forecasts to others, using a bar chart that did not start at zero.

They do a decent job with their forecasts, their graphs, and their maps ... therefore I was very disappointed to see them use a deceptive bar chart like that :(

Besides this graphical lie, it is probably also true that some of these differences, such as that between Weather Underground and The Weather Channel, fall within the margin of error and are therefore insignificant.

Yep - and how do they judge "accuracy"? ... If one forecast says there's an 80% chance of rain, and another says there's an 85% chance of rain, and it rains - which one was more accurate? Are they comparing the 1-day forecast (which is usually pretty accurate) or the 7-day forecast (which is usually kind of hit-and-miss)?

Yeah, the more I think about this one, the more I don't like it!
