Pages 124-125 in "Show Me The Numbers" has box plots for 2 categories (gender) and 5 classes (pay grade). The appendix explains how to create a graph of box plots for 1 category across several classes, but how does one generage box plots for 2 (or more categories) across multiple classes?

Hi JB,

If you need to create box plots in Excel for anything other than simple, single series cases, rather than playing tricks with Excel to produce them, it would probably make sense to buy a statistical add-in for Excel that supports box plots as a standard chart.

Ah... can you recommend any add-ins for this?

JB,

I believe that several such add-ins exist, but I've never evaluated them. I usually create box plots using software that's better designed for exploratory data analysis. I recommend that you check the site http://www.peltiertech.com to see if John Peltier has any recommendations.
