Has anyone read 'The Back of a Napkin' by Dan Roam?  Does it use sound DV principles?  Your comments would be appreciated.

Bill,

"The Back of the Napkin" involves little data visualization in the way that we define the term. Dan Roam teaches a method for visually representing ideas to facilitate problem solving. The first few chapters establish the importance of visual thinking (e.g., during meetings to think through problems) on a firm scientific basis, but then the book ventures into areas that no one has yet confirmed as valid. This is a fundamental problem with all "visual thinking" methodologies--they make claims that have not been tested. When tested, if ever, some will be proven effective and many will not.
